It will start on Friday 10th July 2020 at 1900hrs and will finish 24 hours later at 1900hrs on Saturday 11th July 2020.
The challenge is both mentally and physically tough. Not only do you climb three mountains but 3000 metre ascent over 44km (26 miles) in 24 hrs but there is also sleep deprivation. The challenge is not for the faint hearted, but those that did it last year, were so proud of their achievement and gained from the challenge.
The cost is £100 per person, this covers transportation from North West area. (We will look at group transportation from other areas but this can not be fully confirmed until booking closes). However we are already getting interests from certain areas of the country. Example a group from Yorkshire met us at Ben Nevis base. Food, Insurance, Medical Support, Medal, OBL Vest. We are looking for not only walkers but also support crew, which will be split into two groups. (Support Crew do not pay) Drivers – who will drive minibuses and sleep whilst people are climbing mountains. Support crew – providing medical cover, food, you will sleep whilst be driven.
Everyone that is walking will set off together from the foot of Ben Nevis, as walkers arrive back at the base, hot food will be provided and each person given a pack up for Scafell Pike. Once first minibus is full, they will then leave for Scafell. We are hoping that this will prevent people having to wait for others coming off the mountain.
As vehicles arrive at Scafell Pike, the walkers will then start their climb. On returning to the base of Scafell, the same will happen, hot food and pack up followed by vehicle being full. A kit list will be shared soon, these are mountains and mountains can be dangerous. They must be respected. Therefore correct footwear and clothing must be used.
If you want to take part you need to book early to ensure you are guaranteed a place. We also encourage our participants to fundraise for Our Blue Light, we have a justgiving page you can link into at justgiving.com/teams/obl. Come and join this great experience and challenge
